Our Ethical Policies
At the Red Roof we are committed to ethical practices.
All of our tea and coffee is fairly traded. We also source our fresh food locally wheverever possible, much of it within a ten mile radius! This not only supports local producers but means that our carbon footprint is at a minimum and so is better for the environment. Most of our fruit and vegetable suppliers are also organic certified or have a pesticide free policy. Our eggs are free range and come from just along the road. Our fish and shellfish is as locally caught as possible (dependent on if the prawn boats come in that day). Our meats are wild or free range and, wherever possible, organic.
Our venue is also environmentally friendly. Our heating is a highly efficient, alternative air to air source heat pump that uses up to 80% less energy than a standard heating system, taking natural heat energy from outside and condensing it to warm the building inside. Much of our insulation is recycled glass wool and even our car park is made from recycled road tar chippings!
We are positive about disability both for our staff and customers. This includes having accessible facilities and having policies in place to assist special needs such as menu reading for the visually impaired. We usually have gluten and dairy free baking and are happy to adapt our lunches for you if you have a food intolerance.
If there is anything else you can think of that might be a good idea or would like further information, please contact us!
